The word Hayat is used in Persian, Hindavi, Turkish and Arabic. This shows the influence of these languages on Urdu which is relatively the most recent language. 

• Amir Khusrow(1253-1325) was an Indian musician, scholar and poet. He was an iconic figure in the cultural history of the Indian subcontinent and wrote poetry primarily in Persian, but also in Hindavi. His book Wastul-Hayat (The Middle of Life) according to him his second divan(book of poems) contains what he wrote at the peak of his poetic career.
• Nobel Prize winner Orhan Pamuk novelist wrote a book titled Yeni Hayat which means New Life in Turkish. This book has been translated in English by Güneli Gün.
• Al-Hayat – meaning Life in arabic is a leading arab newspaper for liberal intellectuals who wish to express themselves to a large public. Al-Hayat prints in London, New York, Beirut, Jeddah, Dammam and Riyadh. The newspaper “is regarded as by far and away the best and most intensely read Arab newspaper”, according to a 1997 article in The New York Times.
