Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie is a Nigerian novelist who has written outstanding books including Purple Hibiscus and Half a yellow sun.
At a TED conference she spoke about the danger of a single story. Our lives and our cultures, are composed of many overlapping stories. Chimamanda Adichie tells the story of how she found her authentic cultural voice and warns that if we hear only a single story about another person or country, we risk a critical misunderstanding. Her speech is completely relevant to the language of Urdu as well. Different stories from different people, backgrounds, cultures, races, castes, and creeds help in shaping a better perception of a subject.
